Rockin'around the Christmas...

This week I created a christmas window for ASPECTO,West Nile st. Glasgow, which involved designing and then single-handedly painting a pretty mega sexy pin-up Mrs.Clause ..... enjoy the festive holidays when they come!

So if your in Glasgow over the Christmas period please do have a look as inevitably it will be gone in the New Year!

I recently customised a lbd for the breathtakingly talented singer/songwriter Laura St.Jude for the launch of her E.P "FATAL", which is genuinely addictive. This Glasgow girl has thee most tender, captivating voice and is way too sexy to boot.

She put on a beautiful performance at Glasgow's Centre for Contemporary Arts. The intimate stage bathed in red light made for a beautiful spectacle when Miss.St.Jude appeared on stage. All black feathers, velvet, Swaroski crystals, high pony tail, high cut pin-up girl bangs, even higher heels...long legs and even LONGER lashes. SWOON.. to be fair she'd look good in anything!

Before she began a member of the audience turned to another.."have you heard her sing yet?...put your heart in your pocket!" i.e she will steal it as soon as she reveals that voice! You could have heard a pin drop such was the audiences enthralement when she began. The perfect combination of talent and style... you will be jealous! in short...this blog is mainly to say...check this girl out...

My customised jacket for Alexis Krauss of Sleighbells!

The other week I spent some time screen printing some of my fabric ideas...
Anyway I had some really nice samples and since I was going to see sleighbells a few days later I thought it might be nice to customise a vintage Levis jacket I had for the super foxy Alexis Krauss .

The whole set was phenomenal and I was BLOWN AWAY by Krauss, she fucking tore it up! She crowd surfed, slinked about the stage like the coolest chick you ever seen and on top of that the sound was amazing! This gig was unreal if you get the chance to go see this band, DO IT! Also their videos are too cool...
Anyway in short, after the gig I had the pleasure of meeting Alexis who came out the tour bus with the jacket on! She was so lovely getting her photo taken with the jacket on that I had hand screen printed and embellished for her! She chatted away, so down to earth and generous with her time, she was signing and getting pics with everyone. Top girl!
Anyways I hope she likes it enough that it becomes a permanent part of her wardrobe! Wish I'd had enough time to make something completely from scratch rather then just a customise but hey at least its was Levis.. :)    ps if you see this Krauss,Thank you!!

Scotland:ReDesigned Launch @ The Lighthouse Glasgow

Hello! just a little word on the dress I exhibited as part of the Scotland Re:Designed launch week at The Lighthouse thanks to Mandors fabric and their support of new talent. I managed get a little shoot of the garment prior to the preview night.....

The preview night consisted of the work of some of Scotland's most inspirational Independent Designers, Bebaroque, Belinda Robertson, Caerlee Mills, Common People, Eribe, Euan McWhirter, Henrietta Ludgate. Judy R Clark, MYBTextiles, Rosie Sugden, Timourous Beasties & William Chambers. There were wonderful displays showcasing their work and a fabulous fashion show on the escalators! You can see a little taster of the show on video of here. the final walk of all the models consisted of them all coming up the escalators again in reverse which i loved!

My design was on display along with other winners Obscure Couture, Cassandra Belanger, Jo Faulkner, Leelah MacAulay and Heather Gillespie. Congrats to all of them! Such a tight turn around between winning and producing the goods!

My lovely beau , folks and the talented FotoJenny came along in support which was lovely! The SR:D team put on a fabulous night. Me and Jenny tried on some William Chambers  head wear which were impressive as ever...though we done this through the mirror by standing infront of the display so not to touch them as they looked perfection! (we were too scared to touch anything!)

P.s I got to wear the trousers I made waaaay last year! :-)

I was recently invited to design Limited Edition T-Shirts for Glasgow Trio The Amazing Snakeheads..... I seriously recommend checking this band out they are unbelievable. I was a fan before being asked to design for them so it made it even more exciting for me. An amazing live band not to be described simply to be seen with your own eyes! Plus the three fellas all dress amazingly, one seriously individual band music, style, attitude, the lot.

So after many moons of getting a blog I guess I should actually get round to using it. Im going to do a brief recap of what ive been up to and take it from there......

After graduating from Heriot Watt University with a BSc in Clothing Design & Manufacture, I  teamed up with my very talented cousin, homeware designer Nikki McWilliams to design and hand print a range of  tights called Tights For Sore Eyes which we sold in various independant boutiques aswell as independently online with a great response from various bloggers and press.
